Cool off on this wonderful 12-mile paddle from Meshoppen to the Howland Preserve. This is an easy paddle open to anyone and suitable for all levels of experience, even beginners. This section of the river in Wyoming County is exceptionally beautiful with mountain ridges, lush green shores, and the amazing Vosburg Neck.
Our paddle will begin by meeting at the Howland Preserve park our vehicles and be shuttled to Meshoppen. If you have your own boats drop them off at the Meshoppen Boat launch and drive to Howland.
Bring binoculars as we are sure to see many eagles especially juveniles learning to fish along with Great Blue Herons, Kingfishers, Red-tail Hawks and many other birds.
Endless Mountain Outfitters (EMO) is our guide for this trip and they have recreational kayaks and canoes for rent. The boats are very stable and user friendly. Recreational kayaks are $50 and tandem kayaks or canoes are $65 for the day. PFDs and paddles are included and a lesson on how to paddle will be given. Prices include a donation to the Howland Preserve owned by NBLT and admission to the Friends event.

For those bringing your own boats, it is prefered you drop them off at Meshoppen and drive to Howland Preserve and take the shuttle van back to the access at Meshoppen. Registration only, is $25 and if you need your boat shuttled from Howland to Meshoppens it is $10 additional.
Please meet promptly at 9:00am at The Barn at Howland. For those bringing your own boats, EMO can shuttle your boat up to Meshoppen. Please plan to arrive early enough to unload your boat and put it on the shuttle. The shuttle will leave for Meshoppen at 9:30am.
Following the paddle you may join the Friends of Howland Rock’n the River for food and live music.
Boats do not need to have a PA Fish and Boat or DCNR permit or a PFBC registration for this trip.
